Blown-In Insulation for Northwest Florida Homes

Blown-in insulation is our go-to for attics because it does what batts can't: it flows into every corner, settles around wiring, pipes, and framing, and forms a seamless blanket with no seams or gaps to leak heat. Whether it's loose-fill fiberglass or cellulose, blown-in insulation is the fastest, most thorough way to bring an attic up to the depth your Florida home needs.

It's also the practical answer for adding insulation to existing closed walls, where we can dense-pack the cavity through small access points without tearing out drywall.

Who Needs Blown-In Insulation?

Blown-in insulation is ideal for homeowners topping up a thin, settled attic, insulating an oddly shaped or hard-to-reach space, or adding insulation to existing walls without a full remodel. If your attic has dozens of penetrations, low clearance, or an irregular layout, blown-in coverage gets into the spots that rigid batts leave exposed.

Why It Matters in Our Climate

For Florida attics, complete coverage is everything, a single gap around a recessed light or a missed corner becomes a hot spot that pulls heat into your ceiling. Blown-in insulation's seamless fill eliminates those weak points, and we install it to a measured, even depth so your whole attic performs at the rated R-value. Combined with air sealing underneath, it's one of the most cost-effective comfort upgrades available.

Materials & R-Value

Built to the Right Specification

Insulation is only as good as the way it's specified and installed. For blown-in insulation, the target on most projects is R-3.2 to R-3.8 per inch, and we install to that spec with full, even coverage and no shortcuts. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends roughly R-30 to R-49 for attics in the Florida climate zone, and we use those guidelines, your home's construction, and your comfort goals to determine exactly what your project calls for. You'll always know what material we're recommending, what R-value we're targeting, and why, in plain language, before any work begins.

How We Handle Your Blown-In Insulation Project

Blown-in installation is fast and minimally disruptive, most attics are completed in a single visit. We first air-seal the attic floor, then install baffles where needed to keep soffit vents clear. Using professional blowing equipment, we apply loose-fill insulation to a measured, even depth, flowing it into every corner and around every obstruction for seamless, gap-free coverage. For existing walls, we dense-pack insulation through small access points and patch them cleanly. We mark and verify depth throughout so your whole attic reaches the target R-value.

Cost Factors

What Affects the Price

Every home is different, so we price each project individually after seeing it. These are the main factors that shape the cost of blown-in insulation:

  • Attic or wall square footage and the depth to be added
  • Material, loose-fill fiberglass or cellulose
  • Whether existing insulation is topped up or removed first
  • Number of access points and any prep or baffling needed
  • Air sealing performed before the blow to lock in performance

Blown-In Insulation FAQs

Is blown-in insulation better than batts for an attic?

For most attics, yes. Blown-in fills around every obstruction and leaves no seams, while batts can leave gaps wherever framing, wiring, or odd angles get in the way. Blown-in is also faster to install over a large attic and easy to bring up to the exact depth your home needs.

Can you add blown-in insulation on top of old insulation?

If the existing material is dry, clean, and pest-free, we can blow new insulation right on top to reach the target depth. If it's contaminated, wet, or matted down, we'll recommend removing it first so the new layer performs correctly.

How deep should blown-in attic insulation be?

Depth depends on the material and your target R-value, but reaching R-30 to R-49 in a Florida attic generally means a substantial, even layer well above the joists. We measure and mark depth so coverage is consistent across the whole attic.

Can blown-in insulation be added to walls as well as attics?

Blown-in insulation is most common in attics, where it flows around framing and fills gaps for even coverage. It can also be dense-packed into certain wall cavities on the right project. We look at your home construction and recommend the approach that fits it best.
